Marvellous Artwork

Room 8 have been creating beautiful portraits over the last four weeks and the first few have been completed so we thought we would share them with you. Fingers crossed there will be more to follow next week with an explanation of how they were created. Let us know what you think and for those of you who know us can you work out who is who?

Howzat?!

Room 8 have been doing some more of their Friday writing where they choose what they want to write about. This week Ronak has published his story about a cricket game between New Zealand and Zimbabwe in which he and Brendan McCullum have the task of helping New Zealand to victory. Technology Challenge

On Monday we took part in a technology challenge to make a paper plane that could turn as it flew. We got into groups of four and were given four pieces of A4 paper, two drinking straws, 1m of sticky tape and a blob of blu-tak. Each team had 15 minutes to come up with a design that included at least one of the straws and to build it. We then took it in turns to try our planes out. It was lots of fun and we are going to be writing about the experience so keep an eye out for some writing in the near future. For the moment here are some of the pictures from the afternoon.

Writers Workshop

Room 8 have been writing, creating anything from a whole chapter book through to fun little poems. Every Friday we have Writers Workshop where the children get to choose what they write about, the main rule being that everyone must write but the subject choice is wide and wonderful. We will be sharing some of this writing through our writing page so please hop on over to have a look. Today we have posted a fun little piece of writing by Aspen Davys-Olsen called "Ways to Kill a Pencil", she would love to read your comments on her creation.

Welcome to our International Visitors

Room 8 are very excited to see that we have visitors popping in to have a look at our blog from all over the world. We've had several visitors from America in the last week as well as some from around New Zealand. We'll be popping some of our work up in the next few days, we've been working on some writing and some fantastic portraits. We'd love you to comment on our work so please don't be shy.
